BITS Computer Graphics is now distributing Microtech's Iomega-approved Mii Zip 100 drive, a USB- or PC Card-based drive that takes standard 100MB Zip disks.
Weighing 312 grams and "small enough to fit in a pocket", the Mii Zip 100 is as mobile as the computer it is connected to, says BITS. The drive uses power from its PC host, and so does not require a power adapter or additional cables.
The drive is Plug and Play-compatible and is hot swappable - allowing it to be removed or connected to a PC or notebook without requiring the system to be restarted.
The Mii Zip 100 is priced at $399.
BITS is also distributing a CD-ROM drive from Microtech, the $469 MicroCD 20x. The drive, which can also be used as a stand-alone audio CD player, comes in parallel and PC Card interfaces, and draws power from its PC host, like the Mii Zip 100 drive. The CD-ROM drive is hot swappable and Plug and Play.
