Syncronys Softcorp has developed UpgradeAID 98, a utility that allows people to upgrade to Windows 98 without losing their Windows 95 setup.
According to Marketing Results, who will distribute the product, Microsoft provides only a "time-consuming" Windows 98 Uninstall option, so there is no easy way to switch back to an established Windows 95 installation. The UpgradeAID 98 tool allows you to evaluate software and hardware compatibility under Windows 98 before committing to the new OS version.
UpgradeAID 98 is installed before Windows 98 and uses a graphical boot manager called SmartBoot to permit selection between Windows 95 and Windows 98. The company claims that UpgradeAID98 conserves disk space, because duplicate copies of applications are not required, and does not require hard drive partitioning.
UpgradeAID 98 is available for $39.95; for further information call Marketing Results on (02) 9899 5888 or visit www.syncronys.com
