Best Western goes high speed in 2006

Best Western Hotels is rolling out high-speed Internet access for guests worldwide from January 1, 2006, except in Australia where it will only be available in 15 percent of rooms.

Suburban or regional travellers will be able to access the Internet at speeds between 256Kbps up and 512Kbps while rural travellers will be offered Internet access via satellite.

Locally, travellers will have to request access to get a 'conected' room, but the hotel claims wireless broadband will be offered in all public areas of the hotel.

Access Ezy, Universal Network Technologies and Evotec are now integrating the service into the 250 Best Western hotels across Australia.

Best Western CEO Michael Kerr said high- speed Internet access will become a standard expected by guests, and may become as important as a television in a guest's room.
