Designed to rid users of the inconvenience of having desk space cluttered with a storage drive and a knotted tangle of SATA-to-USB adapters, this desktop docking solution will run 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA hard disk drives. The Welland Sunbright ME-601J measures 136 x 83 x 74mm and comes assembled and ready to plug-and-play. The docking station has been built to deliver transmission speeds of up to 480Mbps through USB 2.0 and up to 3Gbps through eSATA. This unit also gives users the benefit of One Touch Backup software, allowing them to copy files from the PC to the drive efficiently, the vendor claims. The station supports SATA I/II HDD and has a hot-swappable, Quick HDD Exchange function. The station comes in either black or white and will function within Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/ Vista or Mac OS 9.0 or above operating systems. It runs on external power - AC input 100-240V or DC output 12V/3A - and comes with a USB cable, eSata cable, adapters and a CD manual.

Lenovo ThinkPad SL400
The ThinkPad SL400 is one of two new Lenovo notebooks targeted at SMBs and features built-in high-speed mobile broadband connectivity, multimedia capabilities with an optional Blu-ray DVD player on select models and a black glossy cover. The unit has a 14.1-inch screen and comes with productivity and offi ce functionality software ranging from data recovery to simplifying Internet connections. Lenovo also offers an optional service package featuring on-line data backup and on-site warranty repair. Both notebooks in the SL series - the SL400 and SL500 - are based on Intel's latest Centrino 2 processor. Lenovo has partnered with Vodafone to provide optimised mobile broadband services with select ThinkPad SL models. SL notebooks also feature Wi-Fi, Ethernet and optional Bluetooth technologies and come with speakers, microphones and an optional Web cam for Internet voice and videoconferencing. Support for HDMI/VGA also means users can watch video content and movies in high-defi nition. Lenovo claims the notebooks are designed with durability and performance in mind and include its air-bag like Active Protection System, which protects the hard drive against drops or falls. An optional fi ngerprint reader helps protect against unauthorised users and all models feature spill resistant keyboards. To help small businesses get the most productivity from their new ThinkPad notebooks, Lenovo has introduced ThinkPlus Secure Business, the fi rst of several new custom service packages designed for the SMB.
