Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn crusading on August 27

Square Enix also announces Collector’s Edition with bonus content

Namco Bandai, the local distributor of Square Enix games, has set 27 August as the street date for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The game will be released simultaneously on PlayStation 3 and PC, with monthly subscriptions for the game starting at $19.95

In addition to the standard retail version, a Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will also be available for fans of the game. The Collector’s Edition contains bonus in-game items such as the Helm of Light, Baby Behemoth Minion, Coeurl Mount and Behemoth Barding.

The game will come in a collector’s box designed by renowned Final Fantasy artist, Yoshitaka Amano, together with the “Art of Eorzea” hardcover book featuring concept art and the “The Waning of the Sixth Sun” video disc.

Other bonuses include the “Sounds of Eorzea” album, five collectable character art cards, and a branded security token to secure the user’s account.

Those who pre-order either edition of the game will receive access the game servers ahead of the official launch, a Cait Sith doll minion in the party as a non-combat pet, and a Moogle themed in-game hat.

For the A/NZ edition of the game, Namco Bandai will be providing the Helm of Light Helmet in-game item to allow players to become a warrior of light.

Square Enix producer and director, Naoki Yoshida admits that it has been a long road from Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s inception to the beta, but he is happy to finally be able to announce the release of the title.

“Thanks to your fervent support and invaluable feedback, the world of Eorzea will soon complete its journey of rebirth,” he said.

Yoshida said the development team has endeavoured to make the game affordable to enable a large audience to experience the world of Eorzea.

“The new adventure begins on August 27, so I hope to see you all then,” Yoshida said.

Despite sharing the same name as 2010’s Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a standalone game and will not require the original title to play. Those who have the original PC version of Final Fantasy XIV will be able to download A Realm Reborn for free.
