The company announced on Twitter today that it has dropped the price of the Nexus 4 by "25 per cent or more" in Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, Korea, the US, and the UK.

The $100 price cut in Australia means the 8GB model of the Nexus 4 now sells for $249 (previously $349), while the 16GB model is now available for $299 (previously $399).

Google currently lists a 2-3 day despatch time on the Play Store for both 8GB and 16GB models of the device. Shipping is charged at $19.95 to most Australian locations with delivery time advertised within 2-7 business days.

The price cut only applies to the black variant of the Nexus 4 sold directly through Google. The white model Nexus 4 (16GB) is sold "exclusively" through Harvey Norman and is currently listed for $419.

While an upgrade to the Nexus 4 hasn't been confirmed, rumours suggest a new model will be launched before the end of the year.

Google initially struggled with Nexus 4 stock levels following the worldwide launch. The device first went on sale in Australia in November 2012, but both the 8GB and 16GB models were listed as "coming soon" less than an hour later.
