Google reveals Nexus 8 tablet on Android 4.4 KitKat site?

Google may have shown off the unannounced Nexus 8 tablet

Google has just launched the Nexus 5 smartphone and might have shown off a Nexus 8 tablet.

Along with the Nexus 5 release, Google launched the latest version of Android, 4.4 KitKat. On Google's promotional site for the new mobile operating system is a photo of a woman holding a tablet which might be the Nexus 8.

Another image on the page clearly shows the 2013 model of the Nexus 7 but the other one, shown above, has a tablet which looks similar but definitely different to Google's budget tablet. It looks like it has a larger screen and certainly has slimmer bezels at the top and bottom than the current Nexus 7.

Google launched the Nexus 5 last week with no sign of a new Nexus 10 model so perhaps this will be the replacement, or perhaps it's just a render of a device that doesn't exists. We can't say for sure but we will keep an eye on the situation and let you know if we hear of any developments.

Would you be tempted by an 8-inch Nexus 8 tablet instead of the Nexus 7, Nexus or iPad mini?
