Pirate Bay co-founder will be extradited to Denmark

Gottfrid Svartholm Warg is wanted for questioning in a hacking case

Pirate Bay co-founder Gottfrid Svartholm Warg will be extradited to Denmark on Wednesday, a Swedish public prosecutor confirmed Friday.

Svartholm Warg is currently serving a one-year sentence for the hacking of Logica (since acquired by CGI), which provided tax services to the Swedish government. But he is also wanted in Denmark for questioning about his alleged involvement in hacking into a mainframe of IT service provider CSC.

His extradition was approved in June, and will take place next week, according to prosecutor Henrik Olin. He has not yet been charged in Denmark, he added.

Danish chief prosecutor Dorit Borgaard, who filed the request to extradite Svartholm Warg, could not immediately be reached for comment.

Svartholm Warg still has to serve about one month on his Swedish conviction, said Olin.

The remainder of his sentence is an issue to address later on, said Olin. If Svartholm Warg is prosecuted, convicted and sentenced to prison in Denmark he will probably want to serve that sentence in Sweden, which is possible for him as a Swedish citizen, Olin said. If he's not convicted he will have to come back to Sweden to serve the remainder of his sentence, Olin said.

It is not the first time Svartholm Warg has faced extradition. In 2012 he was arrested in Cambodia and deported to Sweden where he was arrested for his involvement in the Logica hack.
