Motorola to launch Moto G follow-up smartphone this month: Possible Moto E inbound

Motorola promises smartphone built to last and priced for all

Motorola has set a date for a new smartphone launch event which will take place in London.

The Google-owned smartphone maker will unveil its next smartphone on 13 May at an event in London. All signs point towards at follow-up model of the budget friendly Moto G called the Moto E.

"Connect more people to the world's information and each other, and they can do great things," says Motorola on the invitation. "Introducing the nest smartphone from Motorola to make these connections happen. Made to last. Priced for all."

Motorola recently launched the Moto G Forte, a Moto G which comes with a Grip Shell, but not in Australia. The invitation's tagline "price for all" lends credence to the theory Motorola will launch a successor to the budget Moto G.

According to the rumour mill, the Moto E will offer a 4.3in screen, 1GB of RAM and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It will also supposedly have 4GB of internal storage, a 5Mp rear camera and a 1900mAh battery.

The Moto E could be arriving with Dual-SIM support and a digital TV tuner. Android 4.4 KitKat will be the operating system of choice and the smartphone could sell for even less than the already bargain priced Moto G.

If we're off the mark, the other possibility is a Moto X+1 — the successor to the Moto X — which is rumoured to feature a 5.2in Full HD screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 1.7GB of RAM, 24GB of internal storage and Android 4.4.3 KitKat. However, this seems the least likely of the two since Motorola said the device will be 'priced for all'.
