Fujifilm Introduces Two High Performance Cinema Lenses for its Mirrorless Digital Camera X Series Range

Fujifilm has announced that it will introduce its first two full manual cinema lenses that are compatible with its mirrorless digital camera X Series interchangeable lens line-up.

FUJIFILM Australia National Product and Marketing Manager - Electronic Imaging, Alex Zitser, said the growth of video production has created a demand among videographers and cinematographers for lenses optimised to shoot.

“These new MKX lenses further enhance the range for professional video shooting,” said Mr Zitser.

The FUJINON MKX18-55mmT2.9 and FUJINON MKX50-135mmT2.9 deliver high optical performance and comfortable operation for professional video shooting.

To further support increased demands for video production, FUJIFILM has also announced the new X-H1, which features a range of new or upgraded video functions such as a 5-axis in-body image stabilisation with a maximum 5.5 stops, the new ETERNA Film Simulation which is ideal for shooting movies, and 1080/120P high-speed video mode.

Traditionally, cinema lenses are large, heavy and expensive compared with photographic lenses.

In February 2017, Fujifilm released compact and lightweight MK lenses for E-mount cameras, offering the same optical performance and operation as expensive cinema lenses. Keeping the same design concepts, the new MKX lenses are now compatible with FUJIFILM’s X-mount cameras within the Fujifilm X Series range. The new MKX lenses has an electrical contact to communicate with the camera, which not only corrects the distortion and colour/brightness shading, but also achieves various colour expressions with Fujifilm’s Film Simulation modes.

The new lenses are expected to be available in Australia in June 2018.
The FUJINON MKX18-55mmT2.9 has a recommended retail price of $6,149.
