Radeon Software Brings Faster, Smoother Performance to the World’s Most Popular eSports Titles, Thanks to AMD’s Project ReSX

AMD has released Radeon Software 18.3.1, the latest update to Radeon Software Adrenaline Edition, bringing major performance gains and optimisations to a variety of eSports titles, including PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds, Overwatch and Dota 2.

These gains are thanks to a special project within the Radeon Software group known as Project ReSX (Radeon eSports Experience).

Over the past few months, AMD say theyworked closely with developers on in-game optimisations and built optimisations directly into Radeon Software, to fine tune performance for the world’s most popular games on Radeon GPUs, ultimately ensuring the best possible eSports experience for Radeon gamers.

Radeon Software 18.3.1 incorporates a host of changes made possible by Project ReSX. It delivers some notable performance improvements over Radeon Software Adrenaline Edition, released late last year.

AMD looked at the 99th-percentile time frame to get a sense of how to get the most difficult frames to render quickly. Smoother animation is just one component of the gaming experience, with responsiveness being another key part of the picture. The time between a mouse or key click and the on-screen response can mean the difference between defeat and victory in a fast-twitch game. AMD has optimised recent Radeon Software releases to minimise input lag.

With 18.3.1, AMD say games like PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds, Overwatch and Dota 2 are more fluid, responsive and faster than ever before.
