Panasonic have revealed the latest addition to their mirrorless lineup, the LUMIX G95 - a mid-range 4K camera designed with digital content creators in mind.

“[The G95] delivers an impressive result in more situations than ever before, whether you are capturing video for YouTube or publishing your first book,” says Scott Mellish, Panasonic’s senior imaging marketing manager.

According to a press release from Panasonic, the lightweight LUMIX G95 draws on a mixture of features from its predecessors. The new model features the 20.3MP sensor and 5-Axis stabilisation of the G9, as well as the V-Log technology of the GH5S - essentially, cinema-style recording that captures a wider-range of colours, highlights and shadows that can be manipulated in post-production.

The G95 also features the same OLED Live View Finder and 3.2-inch rear monitor as previous models, plus the ability to share images to a smartphone over Bluetooth 4.2 or Wi-Fi.  However, the newest model is limited to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band. It lacks the 5.0GHz connectivity typical to devices in 2019.

Being a mid-range option, the G95 doesn't have the ability to record video in 4K at real-time 60FPS. It can only shoot 4K in up to 30FPS. It also supports higher frame-rates (of up to 180FPS) in up to 1080p - although this shouldn’t really be an issue for most content-creators, as most YouTube-enabled devices max out at the latter resolution when streaming content.

“Content creators will love the new G95,” Mellish added.

The Panasonic LUMIX G95 will be released in Australia in June 2019 for AU$1499 (body only) or AU$1799 (weather-sealed kit with 12-60mm lens). The full list of authorised Panasonic retailers is available on their website.
