Acer has unveiled a digital video projector that offers brighter than average viewing. The additional onscreen vibrancy comes courtesy of the Acer S1200's use of ColorBoost II technology to up the intensity.

Designed for both business and school environments, the Acer S1200 digital video projector is an ultra short-throw device that is able to display images of up to 82in across from a distance of just a metre.

The S1200 has a brightness rating of 2,500 Ansi lumens and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio. It displays images at a maximum resolution of 1680x1050 (widescreen XVGA). Its native resolution is 1024x768.

The projector has D-Sub, VGA and HDMI connectors and is able to display video and still images from sources including PCs and laptops as well as DVD players and games consoles.

HDCP (high-definition content protection) file support means that DRM (digital rights management)-protected video can be decoded and played.

The projector produces a relatively unobtrusive 28 decibels when in Eco mode and automatically powers down to use just a fifth of the standard operating power when it's been idle for at least five minutes.
