Samsung confirms Galaxy Smart Watch is coming

Samsung has confirmed a Galaxy Smart Watch product is 'definitely' on its way.
Last week Samsung announced its Galaxy S4 smartphone but there was no "one more thing" style introduction of a smart watch to go with it. Well now a Samsung exec, speaking to Bloomberg, has let slip that a Galaxy Watch is most definitely on the way.
"We've been preparing the watch product for so long," said Lee Young Hee, executive vice president of Samsung's mobile business. "We are working very hard to get ready for it. We are preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them."
Unfortunately Lee did not give any details or information on when the Samsung smart watch would go on sale or what its price would be. Nor did he give any indication of what features it will offer.
The news comes after plenty of rumours around Samsung's main rival, Apple, also working on a smart watch, or iWatch, design to accompany the iPhone. Rumour has it that Apple will launch its smart watch this year.
Marshal Cohen, an analyst at NPD Group, said: "The race is on to redesign the mobile phone into something that you wear. We're going to see formidable competition coming from many different directions -- from device makers, accessory makers, even fashion designers."
As well as telling the time, smart watches connect to your smartphone allowing you to receive notifications and control certain functions. Samsung will be holding an Unpacked 2013 Episode 2 event later this year so this could be where the Galaxy Watch will be fully revealed.
