Google Glass hits eBay pushing $100k

Google Glass Explorer Edition, buy yours now on eBay

Google has started giving out test samples of Google Glass to keen enthusiasts but that hasn't stopped the gadget popping up on eBay.

Google has given a select few users the lucky chance to try out its Google Glass smart glasses as part of its 'If I had Glass' competition. However, one 'Glass Explorer' has taken the liberty of listing them on eBay to make some money. See also: Google Glass specs revealed along with Android app.

Winners of the Google Glass competition had to pay $1,500 for their sample to play with, but that appears to be a great investment for this user who has decided to make some money instead of using the glasses.

The listing states: "I was selected to try Google Glass. I was contacted via twitter and can send a screen shot. I will get details in a few weeks to pick them up!"

At the time of writing, the bidding on the eBay listing sits at $90,100 after 28 bids. More than 60 times the amount which they had to pay for Google Glass. Furthermore, there's still more than three days left before the auction ends so there's plenty of time for more bids.

They've obviously got more money than sense, or are just seriously impatient, as Google Glass is due to launch by the end of the year and expected to cost a fair amount less than the Explorer Edition.

Listing the Google Glass unit on eBay before picking them up may not have been the best move. Google clearly stated that Explorer Edition was not to be resold. If Google gets wind of the listing then perhaps it will refuse to hand the Google Glass over.
