Samsung enter smart speaker market with Galaxy Home speaker

Samsung has officially shown off their debut smart speaker, the Galaxy Home.

Aside from acknowledging the existence of the product itself, however, the company didn't have a whole lot to share beyond saying it will feature both “amazing sound and elegant design.”

To that end, it incorporates a unique tripod-like look alongside a more-familiar mesh-fabric feel.

Envisioned as a alternative to the Google Home, Apple HomePod or Amazon Echo, the smarts side of the equation will run on Samsung's smart assistant Bixby.

As a result, the Galaxy Home will support unique voice commands like SoundSteer, which directs and optimizes the audio output to best suit your position relative to the speaker.

During their Unpacked 2018 press conference, Samsung indicated that future details on the Galaxy Home, such as pricing and availability, would be coming sometime in the near future.

Expect these details to come at this year's IFA in Berlin.
