Motorola's Moto Z3 Play marries edge-to-edge displays with modularity

Motorola Moto Z Australian pricing and availability announced

Motorola have announced local launch details for their latest smartphone, the Moto Z3 Play.

Motorola say that "the moto z3 play continues the legacy of the moto z family, now incorporating next level edge-to-edge display into its sophisticated Motorola design. AI will be at your fingertips, with dual depth-sensing smart cameras and smarter contextual computing."

Essentially, the broad-strokes pitch here is that the Z3 Play offers the same MotoMod-driven customization of previous Z-series devices. Except it updates that proposition to include modern flagship conveniences like an AI-enhanced camera and edge-to-edge display. It also boasts a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Speaking more generally to the specs of the device, the Moto Z3 Play features a 6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Meanwhile, under the hood, the Moto Z3 Play runs on Android 8.1 Oreo paired up with a Snapdragon 636 processor and 4GB of RAM. When it comes to storage and battery life, the Moto Z3 Play features a 64GB of on-board storage (expandable via MicroSD) and a 3000mAh battery.

Last but not least, the Moto Z3 Play boasts dual 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel AI-powered cameras that come integrated with Google Lens.

As you might expect, the Moto Z3 Play is also comes with support for all existing accessories in the company's MotoMod ecosystem. These can be used to customize and enhance the experience. For example, pairing the Moto Z3 Play up with the wireless charging MotoMod adds that function to the device.

The Moto Z3 Play will be available via motorola.com.au on Thursday, 4 October, with a pre-sale starting today. RRP A$799.
