The Amazon Echo Input is now available in Australia

The accessory that allows you to turn any speaker into an Amazon Echo is now available in Australia.

As put by Amazon themselves, the "Echo Input enables customers to easily add Alexa to an existing external speaker through an included 3.5mm audio cable or via Bluetooth, and features a slim, low profile design so it blends seamlessly into every room."

In addition, "When connected to Echo Input, speakers can be added to a new or existing Multi-Room Music group for synchronised streaming across rooms or your entire home. And, if you have multiple Echo devices within hearing distance, Amazon’s Echo Spatial Perception (ESP) technology intelligently calculates the clarity of your voice and determines which Echo is closest and should respond to the request."

Essentially, the Echo Input is a dirt-cheap dongle that you can plug into any speaker systems you already own. Once setup, you'll have access to all the features and functionality you'd get out of any other Echo or Alexa-powered smart speaker. There's not much more to be said about it, apart from the fact that the $55 asking price makes it the more affordable Echo to date.

The Amazon Echo Input is available from today at www.amazon.com.au/echoinput for $55. Amazon say the accessory also be available at JB Hi-Fi stores in the near future.
