What did you do when you turned 20? Some people take on a mantle of responsibility and professionalism at the expense of approachability and fun. Not TP-Link. The famous networking company had already been born that way. But in an age of convergence and digital integration of everybody’s everyday lifestyles, technology is expected to feel welcoming and accessible, not just powerful and technical. The times have changed and TP-Link has changed to match them.
A new look
And so TP-Link is turning heads with its new visual identity. Those who have long known the brand will instantly notice the new, softer public face while those who have been unfamiliar with the brand will now stop and tarry a while, paying it more attention than they otherwise would have. A year and a half in the making, here’s what you can expect from the new TP-Link’s public persona.
Gone is the all upper-case lettering (the universal sign of shouting) of TP-LINK. Welcome to the more-natural, “TP-Link.” The harsh, no-nonsense, professional colour schemes have been replaced with a much-softer Teal with yellow accenting – calming for everyone. Meanwhile the new, softer, curved logo has been especially developed to profess the company’s new outlook in one simple, but dynamic icon: the soft edges are bow like while unmistakably denoting the monogram, “TP.” The arrow pointing towards the centre naturally draws you in and it’s designed to do so: to illustrate TP-Link’s new customer-focused attitude.
A new outlook
So why has all of this been done? It’s because TP-Link no longer only focuses on devices that are thought of primarily as tools. The new products now represent smart accessories to the smart, connected, digital lifestyles that young professionals are now living.
While the corporate WiFi and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) will always be there, now potential customers are more likely to have their heads turned by a funky-looking gaming router that’s fast enough to stream the latest, 4K Ultra High Definition videos across their home. That’s what the Archer C5400 does and it does so while fitting in to a trendy apartment with its fashionable-furniture looks.
Other routers include modems which are fully compatible with the VDSL technologies used by Australia’s nbnTM network – bringing people together more than ever before.
All of the technologies used like Multiple User and Multiple In/Output (MU-MIMO) and Beam Forming mean that wherever you are in the home or office, even if you’re moving around on a mobile device, TP-Link’s connectivity technology will support you as fast and reliably as it’s possible to do so.
The Smart Home
TP-Link’s new and imminent product ranges don’t just have the invisible smarts to keep you connected discreetly and invisibly in the background, its new devices make any smart home smarter in ways you can visibly base your life around.
The soon-to-be launched Smart Home router with Touch Screen is one of those gadgets that tech-savvy people/dynamic young people/technology lovers just want to own without even knowing what it does. The digital hub with its colour touchscreen looks like something from a futuristic sci-fi movie and controls all your smart home devices using a colour, touchscreen with dedicated apps.
Then there two Smart Plugs (HS100 and HS110) which allow you to turn any regular appliance into a smart appliance while keeping tabs on and logging power usage for greater efficiency. They let you monitor energy usage, activate/deactivate appliances remotely or on a smart, programmable schedule as well as keeping tabs on your lighting when away from home.
The Smart LED Bulbs (LB100, LB110 and LB130) can not only be dimmed but also change colour to suit your mood or occasion. This is all controlled via an app on your smartphone and different settings can be saved to allow instant access at other times.
A selection of network cameras let you monitor your home for security reasons or keep an eye on the baby. Whether it’s a fixed mounted unit (NC250) or one with a Pan and Tilt (NC450) lens you can keep an eye on your property, pet or baby using TP-Link’s cloud-based smartphone app which lets you see what’s going on wherever you are in the world.
All devices are controlled by TP-Link’s simple-to-use Kasa/TP camera app and cloud services.
High Performance Home
WiFi technology is inherent with foibles but TP-Link’s WiFi accessories cut out any excuse for performance deterioration.
WiFi extenders aren’t new but TP-Link’s combine to form a mesh that ensures nowhere in any home or office or even the garden has an excuse for a weak signal.
