LG V30+ Review: The videographer's smartphone arrives
Pros
- Great camera app
- Featureset covers all the bases
Cons
- Kinda average camera
- Nougat
Bottom Line
The V-series has always been LG’s playground for the more ambitious fare left out of their more-mainstream flagship G-series - and all the better for it. The V30 continues that trend in good form.

Battery Life
There’s no algorithmic enhancement or optimization happening here (a la The Huawei Mate 10 and Google Pixel) but the V30+ delivered nonetheless when it came to battery life. We’d usually make it well into a second day of use before needing to charge the phone, though - as always - your mileage may vary depending on your own use habits.
As well as supporting Qi wireless charging, the V30+’s 3300mAh battery also comes ready to make use of Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 3.0 tech. LG say the V30+ can be topped up to 50% capacity in just over half an hour and our experience testing this claim lines up pretty nicely.
The Bottom Line
If you’re a sucker for a good snap (or selfie), LG’s V30+ is probably not going to cut it for you. However, if you’re willing to live with photos that are only good rather than great, it’s got the makings of the best Android phones of the year. It ticks (almost) all the right boxes and does so at a price that neatly undercuts the competition.
Make no mistake, this is a really good handset - not to mention LG’s best of the year - even if its uneven featureset fractures that illusion from time to time. The cracks occasionally show, but the picture that’s painted here is still a pretty appealing one.
