OWC Envoy Pro SX portable SSD review: Fast enough but not cheap enough

This external SSD is just as fast as its FX cousin, but a bit less expensive.

OWC Envoy Pro SX
  • Expert Rating

    4.00 / 5

Pros

  • Performance compares very well with competitor
  • Sturdy design

Cons

  • Thunderbolt only

Bottom Line

The Envoy Pro SX is Thunderbolt storage for your Mac that performs very well. However, it's Thunderbolt only, and its USB-equipped sibling, the Envoy Pro FX, is only $US20 more than the SX.

Would you buy this?

  • Price

    $ 299.00 (AUD)

OWC's new 240GB Envoy Pro SX Thunderbolt external drive delivers the speed of its Envoy Pro FX sibling, but for less cash. It features the same internal SSD, as well as the same rugged, IP67-rated dust and water-resistant enclosure, but lacks its brethren's USB 3 compatibility.
