The best 4G smartphones available in Australia

4G may be relatively new in Australia, but there are a few smartphones available on the market that utilise this super fast technology.

So far, only Telstra has commercially launched it's 4G network in Australia, simply called the Telstra 4G network. Optus has also switched on its 4G network in Australia but it is initially limited to "select customers" in the NSW regions of Newcastle, Port Stephens, Hunter Valley and Lake Macquarie on an invited, trial basis. Optus will commercially launch its 4G network in the coming months with a range of 4G smartphones expected.

The HTC Velocity 4G was Australia's first 4G capable smartphone. Telstra followed that up recently with the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G, a 4G variant of arguably the most popular Android phone on the market, the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Finally, the HTC Titan II 4G is expected to launch in May. It will be the first 4G-capable Windows Phone to launch in Australia.

HTC Titan 4G

The first 4G-capable Windows Phone in Australia is predictably slick, easy to use and provides excellent data speeds provided you're in a Telstra 4G coverage zone. However, limited internal memory with no expansion and a chunky, thick design will turn many potential users elsewhere.
