Hot new pics of Fujitsu’s answer to the Eee PC: the M1010

Will this finally kill the Eee PC?

  • Saving the best for last, we present the gratuitous backside shot. With the market growing increasingly tight, the M1010 will need to be a very attractive device to get attention during this year’s challenging Christmas season. (We journos can’t afford a sub-prime steak, let alone a sub-prime mortgage!)

  • It features an 8.9in screen, a built-in 1.3-megapixel webcam as well as wireless and Bluetooth connectivity. The device will weigh in at around 1kg. From the images it looks like the unit will also sport a D-sub port, ExpressCard reader, memory card reader, two USB ports and an Ethernet connection.

  • While figures are yet to be confirmed, our guess is that it will be sold for under $1000 — not that it has much choice given the existence of competing devices like the HP 2133 Mini-Note and ASUS’ latest Eee PC 1000H.

  • Apparently the Fujitsu marketers have a fetish for Thailand and plan to travel in or around it with an older airline that still uses old school plane tickets. We’re sorry, Fujitsu, but we reckon it’s time to go e-ticket.

  • Ever since the runaway success of ASUS’ Eee PC, notebook-makers have been leaping headfirst aboard the “Netbook” bandwagon. Now it is Fujitsu’s turn with the M1010 — a new net-focussed device that is set to hit the shelves by late October.
