Nokia announces its first touch-screen mobile phone

5800 XpressMusic set to compete with iPhone.

  • The 5800 XpressMusic is equipped with a 3.2in widescreen display that has a 16:9 aspect ratio, 30 frames per second playback and 25fps recording. A 3.2-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and Share on Ovi support are also present.

  • The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be among the first devices to support Comes With Music, which offers one year of unlimited access to the entire Nokia Music Store catalogue. Conveniently, the service allows you to keep the music when your subscription expires. Nokia plans to roll out the Comes With Music service in Australia in Q1 2009.

  • The 5800 XpressMusic also supports Flash content when Web browsing. For music, the phone includes a graphic equaliser, 8GB memory and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

  • Nokia recently announced the launch of its first full touch-screen phone, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

  • Nokia 5800 XpressMusic introduces the Nokia Contacts Bar and Media Bar — drop down menus that provide direct access to contacts, music and entertainment, as well as recent text messages, e-mails, phone logs and photos.

  • The 5800 XpressMusic is Nokia’s first touch-screen phone and offers a variety of input methods including a virtual alphanumeric keypad, an on-screen QWERTY keyboard, a stylus and a plectrum.

  • EMI Group is the latest major label to support Comes With Music, in addition to Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group. Comes With Music will be available across a range of Nokia devices including the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia N95 and Nokia 5310 XpressMusic.

  • NAt an announcement in Singapore, the Finnish giant also debuted its Comes with Music digital entertainment service, aiming to dethrone Apple’s iPhone and iTunes combination.
