Sony Ericsson's new mobile phones

Satio, Yari and Aino mobile phones set to be released in Q4 2009

  • Sony Ericsson has ditched its regular Memory Stick Micro (M2) format in favour of the more popular microSD card slot. The Satio also boasts built-in GPS, geotagging, a WebKit web browser and Bluetooth stereo (A2DP).

  • The Sony Ericsson Aino is a 3in touch-screen smartphone that will connect to Sony's PlayStation 3.

  • Sony Ericsson recently unveiled three new flagship mobile phones, including the 12-megapixel Satio, previously known as Idou. The three new handsets should hit the Australian market in late 2009.

The Sony Ericsson Satio will include a widescreen, 3.5in touch screen, a 12.1-megapixel camera with Xenon flash and preloaded Facebook and YouTube applications. It will run an open version of the Symbian operating system, known as Symbian Foundation OS. Sony Ericsson claims the Satio will be an "iPhone killer".

  • The Yari is a full HSDPA-capable phone and also boasts GPS. It will be available in black or white models.

  • The Aino has an 8-megapixel camera, Facebook and YouTube applications, and built-in Wi-Fi.

  • The Sony Ericsson Yari has been described as a "gesture gaming" mobile phone. It has a 2.4in display and a built-in accelerometer designed for motion-controlled gaming.
