Sygic Mobile Maps 2009: the first turn-by-turn iPhone navigation app

Sygic last week launched the first full turn-by-turn app for the iPhone, ahead of the likes of TomTom and Navigon.

  • Once a route is planned, Sygic Mobile Maps 2009 can display it on the map. It can also offer a route summary, a route demo and show the route as instructions or images.

  • Sygic claims Mobile Maps 2009 includes more than 600,000 points of interest, including content from Yellow Pages and UBD, as well as speed and red light alerts. It also offers instant rerouting, lane assistance, speed restrictions and a number of other safety alerts.

  • The usual route planning options are present, including the ability to search an address, saved favourites, previous routes, POI's post code and home.

  • Sygic Mobile Maps 2009 Australia is available now from the iPhone App Store for $79.99. The Sygic app includes Australian and New Zealand maps from Whereis.

  • The Sygic Map screen offers clear, readable maps and also includes lane guidance, shown here on the bottom left of the screen.

  • Sygic offers POI (Point of Interest) features, including to ability to edit and add your own POIs.

  • Mobile Maps 2009 allows you to plan the fastest, shortest and most economical routes, and also has pedestrian and bicycle route modes.
