In pictures: Unboxing Casio's G-Shock smart watch

We unbox Casio's G-Shock smart watch, the GB-6900AB

  • Casio's G-Shock Bluetooth watch, the GB-6900, may look like a classic G-Shock model, but the smart watch connects to your iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S via Bluetooth and notifies you of incoming calls, emails and messages. Let's take a look!

  • The retail packaging for the Casio G-Shock GB-6900. (We wish Casio would come up with a better model number).

  • Unboxing the packaging.

  • Included in the box is documentation for the international warranty and a user's guide in multiple languages.

  • The watch itself is packed in a rather attractive steel tin.

  • This foldable, cardboard stand allows retailers to position the watch in a shopfront window for display.

  • Opening the tin.

  • The G-Shock watch is well protected in the box.

  • Using the included retail stand to display the watch. As you can see, it looks very similar to the standard, classic G-Shock line.

  • There are a total of five (5) buttons on the Casio G-Shock GB-6900 - two on either side, and a large G button on the front, below the screen.

  • The G-Shock GB-6900 has a gloss black band and front, but it's also available in gloss blue, brown and white colour variants.

  • Despite using Bluetooth to connect to a smartphone, Casio says the G-Shock GB-6900 boasts up to two years of battery life from its standard CR2032 watch battery. This is extremely impressive compared to many other smart watches on the market, which often need to be recharged every few days.

  • Once connected to a compatible iPhone, the Casio G-Shock GB-6900 offers the following features: Notification of incoming calls and e-mails
Phone Finder function to enable an iPhone alarm function
Warning vibration when the watch loses its connection to an iPhone
Time adjustment by synchronizing with time data received from an iPhone
Built-in tilt sensor to detect movement in the watch

  • The Casio G-Shock GB-6900 is shock resistant, water resistant up to a depth of 200 metres and has basic countdown timer, calendar, stopwatch and alarm functions built-in.

  • Other features of the GB-6900AB include a "high-brightness" LED backlight, and "G" logo on the front indicating compatibility with Bluetooth 4.0 technology.

  • The Casio G-Shock GB-6900AB is available now for $299 through City Beach (Nationwide), Glue Store (Nationwide), Surfstitch (Nationwide), Carhartt (Melbourne, Laced (Brisbane), Keysole (Perth), Blindside (Melbourne) and Saintside (Melbourne) retail stores.
