Take the ShortCuts -- free today if you're quick!

Is your Start Programs menu spreading across your screen? Do you use a few programs all the time and get sick of double-clicking on the icons? Then ShortCuts may be for you. Best of all you can download it free today only (while it's still Valentine's day in the US) from Kiss Software's Web site at http://www.kissco.com/valentine.html.

ShortCuts is a nifty little program which lets you personalise the function keys (F1-F12) and the special keys (Home and Page Up, for example) to perform functions like launching applications. With 42 keys to customise - there's an option to use the Shift key with the function and special keys - the makers of ShortCuts suggest a range of possibilities: you can set the keys to shut down the computer, run macros, go to a Web site, open documents and dial-up your ISP.

Setting it up is as easy as clicking selections in a wizard, and the program can be turned on and off if you want to use a function key which is specific to an application. The advantage of this program is the fact that you don't have to use the Start menu, which may have increased to three times the size since you bought your PC if you have a lot of programs installed. It's also fun to show your friends and workmates what you can do just by pressing one key.
