Lexmark refreshs its home office and SMB range

New inkjet and laser printer launch demonstrates the vendor is confident, despite tough economic times

Lexmark is pushing a green agenda as it launches a refresh of its home office and small business range of laser and inkjet printers.

General manager of channel and emerging accounts, Carmel Mosser, said the home office and small business line accounted for 30 to 40 per cent of printer vendor’s business.

“We don’t often do a whole refresh of a product line – perhaps every 14 to 18 months,” Mosser said. “We’re using the new line to try and expand in the channel with the lower price points we can offer on laser printers now.”

The new inkjets are priced from $169 to $299, while the E and C series of laser printers range from $355 up to almost $1200.

At the launch in Sydney, Mosser also claimed the vendor’s channel was keen to work on green initiatives.

“We’re getting good feedback from the channel and a number of our partners are showing interest in participating,” she said.

Marketing manager, Stephen Bell, said the vendor was a tier-1 foundation member of the ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ program, and is offering a recycling program, called Lexmark Rewards, which encourages users to return empty printer cartridges for recycling to earn free toner and imaging kits.

Despite the market tightening up in light of the economic situation, Lexmark is doing well, and expected the new product line to sell well, Mosser said.
