Navigon MobileNavigator hits the iPhone app store

Navigon MobileNavigator for the iPhone includes a number of features seen on Navigon's dedicated in-car GPS units

Navigon has released the full Australian version of its MobileNavigator app for the iPhone, providing full turn-by-turn GPS navigation.

The full version of MobileNavigator follows the initial release of MobileNavigator Lite last month, which allowed users to try the software before deciding to purchase the full version.

MobileNavigator for iPhone has a number of features seen on Navigon's dedicated in-car GPS units including Reality View Pro, Lane Assistant Pro, Speed Assistant and Day & Night mode. iPhone-specific features include a rotating map display, the ability to navigate to an address in the iPhone's contact list and multi-touch zoom capabilities on the map screen.

"By making the MobileNavigator for the iPhone available for users in Australia, we are further expanding our global presence in the field of navigation for mobile phones," said Gerhard Mayr of Navigon.

MobileNavigator is compatible with both the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.It is priced at $99.99, but will be available for a promotional price of $69.99 until 15 August.

Navigon's MobileNavigator is the second turn-by-turn GPS app to hit the Australian App Store, following Sygic's Mobile Maps 2009 iPhone app, which launched in June.

GPS manufacturer TomTom has also announced the impending release of a dedicated app and car kit for the iPhone, though no release date has been set.
