HTC has "no information available" on the First launching in Australia

HTC has no plans to launch its new First smartphone in Australia, it has been revealed.

The HTC First is a new mid-range smartphone that was unveiled overnight at Facebook's headquarters in Menlo Park, California.

It is the first Android phone to come pre-loaded with Facebook Home, a new software launcher for Android phones that gives quick access to Facebook services from the lock and home screens.

Despite launching in multiple global markets including the US, UK and France, a HTC spokesperson confirmed to PC World Australia that the company has no plans to launch the device in Australia at this stage.

The HTC First wlll initially be available in the US through AT&T and will be available with Orange in France and EE in the UK shortly.

There is no information available on Australian availability.

The HTC First has a 4.3in screen, runs the 4.1 Jelly Bean version of Android and comes in four different colours: red, blue, white and black. It is a 4G compatible device.
