Optus announces Nokia Lumia 925 pricing, opens pre-orders

Optus has opened pre-orders for Nokia's new Lumia 925 smartphone, which goes on sale from Thursday, 1 August.

The telco announced today that the Lumia 925 will be available on a total of four plans, all over 24 months. Plans range from the $50 Optus My Plan with $8 handset repayment (totalling $58 per month), to the top $100 My Plan.

Optus appears to be heavily pushing the $60 My Plan with the Lumia 925. This plan includes 600 minutes of standard national voice calls, unlimited standard SMS and MMS messages to Australian mobiles and 1GB of data per month.

Optus will also sell the Lumia 925 outright for $624, a saving of $75 over Nokia's official recommended retail price of $699.

The outright pricing is identical to Telstra, who announced its pricing plans for the Lumia 925 earlier this month.

Optus says it will aim to deliver the Lumia 925 to customers in metropolitan areas from Thursday, 1 August, though consumers in regional areas will have to wait up to a day later and the dates "are subject to change".

Nokia announced the Australian launch of the Lumia 925 in the first week of July. In addition to availability through Optus and Telstra, the Windows Phone 8 device is currently sold through retailers Allphones, Dick Smith, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Network Communications, Fone Zone and Leading Edge.
