Samsung Galaxy S5 specs appear online with Quad HD display

GFXBench reveals possible Samsung Galaxy S5 specifications

A set of possible Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphones specifications have appeared online.

Rumours surrounding the Galaxy S5 are ramping up as 2014 draws closer, with an impressive set of hardware specs appearing on GFXBench website, according to Fonearena. Results for the Samsung SM-G900S, which could well be the Galaxy S5, were spotted.

The mystery device was benchmarked and the results listed a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and Adreno 330 GPU. This is common in top-end smartphones but we've not seen one clocked at 2.5GHz. However, that doesn't match up with news that Samsung would go 64-bit for the S5 to keep up with the iPhone 5S.

The SM-G900S, similar to the Galaxy Round's product code of SM-G910S, has a whopping 2560 x 1440 display. That matches the Quad HD resolution of a 5.5in screen which LG announced earlier this year. The device is also running on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat.

Samsung is unlikely to use Korean rival LG for displays so based on a rumour that the firm would launch a 560ppi SuperAMOLED phone in 2014, the possible GS5 will have a 5.25in screen.

Whether or not this turns out to be the Galaxy S5 or not remains to be seen. Samsung is reportedly planning to launch four or five smartphones early in 2014 so you can bet the GS5 will match or better these specs.

Etnews reports that the Galaxy Grand 2 will arrive on 20 January, with an entry-level Galaxy Note 3 Lite following in February. The Galaxy S5' release date is expected to be a little ahead of schedule. There's also a possibility of the Galaxy Gear 2.

We're sure that Samsung will announce more at both CES in January and MWC in February so stay tuned for all the latest.
