The new LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt USB-C was designed by Neil Poulton, an award-winning Scottish product designer. It’s nice to see a rugged portable hard drive with function and form.

If you often find yourself rummaging through the depths of your backpack while crouched in a swamp in the Amazon trying to take a once-in-a-lifetime shot of an anaconda, desperately searching for your hard drive because your camera is full. Then this eye-popping orange is sure to grab your attention.

This product was designed with a budding wildlife photographer in mind: explorers and snap-happy users rejoice! Not only does this portable hard drive have a capacity of up to 5TB, but it is fast. The thunderbolt speeds allow data transfer of 100GB in around three minutes while being wholly responsive to browsing in Adobe Lightroom. It makes storing those large RAW images and video recordings easy and without wasting time moving files around. It offers best-in-class reliability and performance.

If you already have the first generation Thunderbolt or the Thunderbolt 2 you are also in luck. This edition comes with an integrated cable allowing compatibility between devices. In fact, the LaCie Rugged drive can be used with more types of computers than any other storage solution currently on the market. It can connect to all USB 3 compatible computers and USB-C.

To ensure your data is kept safe on the road, the rugged is of course shock, dust and water resistant.
