The new LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt USB-C was designed by Neil Poulton, an award-winning Scottish product designer. It’s nice to see a rugged portable hard drive with function and form.

The thunderbolt speeds allow data transfer of 100GB in around three minutes while being wholly responsive to browsing in Adobe Lightroom. If you already have the first generation Thunderbolt or the Thunderbolt 2 you are also in luck. This edition comes with an integrated cable allowing compatibility between devices. LaCie rugged Thunderbolt USB-C retails for between $175 and $700 in Australia currently with a range of memory options from 1TB up to 4TB.
