Jabra have announced that their Elite Sport wireless earbuds will be getting an upgrade, with this year's refresh boasting a 50% improvement to battery life.

“Whilst design aesthetics and features are crucial, we also appreciate that to most users “battery is ‘king’,” said Calum MacDougall, SVP at Jabra.

The first-generation Elite Sport wireless earbuds offered three hours of battery life to a single charge, the new raise the bar to 4.5 hour per charge.

"All the features in the world can be meaningless if your battery unexpectedly runs out on you. This is true for most electronics products, such as mobile phones and laptops – and certainly also your headphones, and now Jabra has taken a significant step in boosting battery experience in the true wireless category," MacDougall said.

Aside from the bump to battery life, the refresh features the same IP67 waterproofing, heart-rate monitor and personalised audio coaching as its predecessor.

The new Elite Sport, branded as the Jabra Elite Sport: Black Edition, is now available in Australia through retailer JB Hi-Fi at a recommended retail price of AUD $349.99. You can find out more and buy this product via the Jabra online store.

The move comes only a week or so after Samsung announced a refresh of their similarly-positioned Samsung Gear IconX wireless earbuds at this year's IFA Conference in Berlin.
