Suunto 9 promises 120 hours of battery life

Suunto has announced the Suunto 9, a multi-sport GPS watch designed for athletes who demand the best from their sports watch.

Suunto 9 delivers up to 120 hours battery life with GPS and an intelligent battery life management system that sends reminders to ensure the watch will last as long as needed.

Three defined battery modes - Performance, Endurance and Ultra - deliver from 25 hours up to 120 hours of recording time with GPS tracking on. Users can create custom battery modes to suit their needs. When the watch starts recording, it provides an estimate of how much battery life is left with the current mode, which allows users to adjust or switch modes accordingly.

According to Suunto, the Suunto 9 uses smart reminders to help ensure users have enough battery life. Some reminders are preemptive to ensure the watch is fully charged for the next outing. If the watch notices the battery is running low, it will automatically suggest changing to a different battery mode to preserve power.

In addition, Suunto’s unique FusedTrack algorithm combines GPS and motion sensor data to improve track distance and accuracy. This allows extended battery life as it lowers GPS power without compromising accuracy.

Suunto 9 has over 80 sport modes and delivers convenient wrist heart rate measurement from Valencell. The watch comes with full GPS route navigation, sunrise/sunset times, storm alarms and more.

The watch is compatible with the new Suunto app that keep a log of users training, daily activity and sleep, and enables users to share training logs and engage with others in the Suunto app community.

The Suunto 9 will be available in Australia from June 26th for $899.99.
