The Razer Phone 2 gets a price-drop and Android Pie

Razer has announced a significant price-drop for their second-gen smartphone alongside a software update that'll update the device to Android 9 Pie.

Existing Razer Phone 2 owners will be able to download and install the software update from as soon as this week. Once they do so, they'll gain access to all the same perks as other Android Pie-based devices. This includes things like gesture-based navigation, improved battery life and new digital well-being features.

Meanwhile, those who have had their eye on the gaming-focused smartphone will now be able to scoop one up for a new recommended retail price of $899. Compared to the previous price-point of $1249, it's a significant step-down for the device and one that does make it more competitive against the other options.

Razer do say that this latest discount is a limited time offer but haven't said how long it'll last until.
