Australian first Android phone: Kogan Agora

Australian company Kogan has announced the first Google Android phone to be released in Australia, the Kogan Agora.

  • Kogan's first mobile phone comes in two models, the Agora ($299) and the Agora Pro ($399). It will be released on 29 January, 2009, but it is available to pre-order from www.kogan.com.au.

  • Both models offer a 2.5in touch screen and a QWERTY keyboard, as well as 3G connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0 and a micro-SD slot. The Agora Pro adds a 2-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and integrated GPS.

  • The fully customisable Android home screen lets you put all the tools and gadgets you want at your finger tips.

  • Preinstalled software applications include Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Talk and a YouTube video player.

  • The integrated Google Maps application supports detailed map, satellite imagery, traffic, and Street View.
