We take a look at the new Toshiba 1080p LCD TVs

  • The Toshiba XV550A packs in the same functionality as the XV560A, but features a two-tone casing. This style will be phased out at the end of the XV550A’s production cycle, with all new Toshiba AV products having the same visual style.

  • The XV560A is Toshiba's flagship TV. Its Large System Integrator chip does all the necessary processing (including 100Hz motion smoothing and discrete colour management), maintaining image quality as much as possible.

  • Like the XV560A, the RV550A employs Toshiba’s new style. The RV550A is a Full HD TV but omits a 100Hz motion smoothing mode.

  • The Toshiba CV550A replaces the AV500A in Toshiba’s line-up. It has a 1080p resolution and costs only $100 more than the non-Full HD AV500A.

  • In addition, the CV550A carries a 4.5 star energy efficiency rating. This rating marker will become mandatory on televisions in the near future and televisions with a one star or lower rating will not be sold within Australia.

  • Toshiba’s new LCD television line-up includes the XV560A series (which are Full HD 1080p capable), the XV550A series (with two-tone silver and black chasses), and the energy-efficient CV550A series.
