LG's 2009 plasma television range

New LG plasma televisions include internal hard drives for recording TV shows.

  • The PS70 includes a different implementation of the Time Machine recording system, with this television’s ‘Time Machine Link’ requiring an external hard drive to be plugged in via USB — as there is not one built in.

  • With similar styling to LG’s latest LH50 LCD model, the PQ60 has the ability to play DivX and XviD compressed video files off a USB port (a feature that is replicated in more expensive LG models).

  • The 50-inch 50PQ60D is available now, with a price of $2299.

  • TV's in LG's flagship PS80 series have a 250GB ‘Time Machine’ DVR built in — giving the televisions the ability to record high-definition content without an additional video recorder. The PS80 has two HDTV tuners, allowing users to watch another channel while still recording.

  • The 50-inch 50PS80ED is expected to retail for $3499.

  • The 50-inch 50PS70FD is available in May and is expected to cost $3199.
