In pictures: Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 smartphone

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 has an 8.1-megapixel camera with single LED flash. It also includes built-in GPS, Wi-Fi and HSDPA connectivity. Although no Australian carrier details or pricing has been announced, the XPERIA X2 will operate on the 850MHz 3G band in addition to the standard 900MHz and 2100MHz bands, meaning it will work on Telstra's Next G network.
The XPERIA's panel system was first seen in the original X1 and it has been expanded and improved on the X2. There are now 14 preloaded panels, as well as 16 available for download. New panels include likes of Skype, Google and CNN. SlideView is also a new feature on the XPERIA X2. It provides quick access to frequently used phone applications, including contacts and messages.
The Sony Ericsson [[artnid:317213|XPERIA X2]], the successor to the [[artnid:271230|XPERIA X1 smartphone]], will be one of the first smartphones to be shipped with Windows Mobile 6.5 when it launches in Australia later this year. Promising a "best in class" e-mail and multimedia experience, the XPERIA X2 is a full touch-screen smartphone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
The XPERIA X2 has a 3.2in display and features the same memory and processor as the original, which is a little surprising. The biggest benefits are expected to come from the upgraded Windows Mobile 6.5 OS.
