Top 5 inkjet printers and multifunctions for the office

Do all of your office work with these compact, colour-friendly inkjets

  • [[Artnid:341248|Lexmark Platinum Pro905]]

    Price: $599

The Lexmark Platinum Pro905 is a little more expensive at the outset than many inkjet multifunctions, but it offers a 300-sheet maximum input capacity as well as a raft of connectivity options. It’s cheap to run, too, with an average cost of 1.6c per monochrome A4 page, and 15.5c per page for full colour documents. While colour print quality is a weak point of this multifunction, the ability to print text documents cheaply and the added bonus of the SmartSolutions Internet-based widgets make it worthy of consideration.
  • [[Artnid:302803|HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless]]

    Price: $499

The HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless has a consumable cost of 14.2c per A4 page, which is slightly cheaper than the Lexmark Platinum Pro905, though the HP printer produces less accurate text documents. However, the ability to connect over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and integrated automatic duplexing make it a decent choice for the small or home office.
  • [[Artnid:301422|HP Officejet Pro 8000 (A909)]]

    Price: $249

If you don’t need a full-blown multifunction then HP’s Officejet Pro 8000 (A909) could be an interesting choice. It’s not particularly good at printing photos, but with document print speeds of between 15 and 22 pages per minute, it’s speedy enough to produce drafts and even final text documents with just a moment’s notice.

  • [[Artnid:320399|Epson Stylus Office T1100 A3+ printer]]

    Price: $399

One [[xref:http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/node/340745|PC World forum]] member asked for options for a good A3+ inkjet printer in the office. We suggested the Stylus Office T1100. It's a simple printer but it can handle A3+ media and, most importantly, it offers a document scaling option within the print driver. This means you won’t have to enlarge the document through Microsoft Word, and A3 documents produced from A4 originals are much cleaner than they would be otherwise.
  • [[Artnid:333254|Epson Stylus Photo TX810FW]]

    Price: $399

If you’re more likely to print text documents from a laser printer but need something to get good quality colour prints and do other tasks, the Epson Stylus Photo TX810FW is a good option. This multifunction is great at producing crisp and vibrant photos, while other features like automatic duplexing and an automatic document feeder make for a decent office machine.
