Sony's stunning VAIO X series notebook is a slim 14mm and weighs under 700g

  • The Sony VAIO X series is one of the thinnest and lightest notebooks we've ever seen.

  • Unfortunately, the VAIO X series' trackpad is quite small, though it's well positioned below the keypad.

  • The VAIO X series comes with a built-in Motion Eye webcam, and has a wireless switch on the front.

  • The VAIO X series notebook weighs less than 700g and has a carbon fibre top. During the press demonstration, Sony's VAIO product manager, Kent Tanigaki stood on the X series notebook to demonstrate its durability.

  • The VAIO X series keyboard is quite small, however the keys themselves are reasonably spaced for a notebook this size.

  • No technical specifications of the Sony VAIO X series notebook have been revealed, but it will run Windows 7 and should ship with a 3-cell battery. Other battery options are likely to be available as optional accessories.
