In pictures: The creepiest video game fan art of all time

"…If you gaze into an abyss long enough, the abyss gazes also into you." -- Friedrich Nietzsche.

  • The Internet is a dark and scary place, filled with terrors both familiar and unimaginable. I know this, for I have stared into the fan art abyss... and the abyss stared back.

When I decided to compile a slideshow of bad video game fan art, I had no idea what kind of Pandora’s Box I was about to open. I expected to find a few child-like scrawls of Zelda and Sonic. Instead, I saw things that no sane gamer should ever have to lay eyes on. (If you think this little crop is bad, you should see the stuff we couldn’t publish -- you'd gouge your own eyes out and scream that you could still see.)

We're sorry for destroying your childhood. As a numbing salve, we recommend this [[artnid:336111|slideshow of hot cosplay girls]]. Keep it open in a separate browser, in case of emergencies.

[Note: to protect the not-so-innocent, we have decided not to source the following images. If you want your artwork removed or – God forbid – would like to be credited, send us an email and we’ll make the necessary changes.]

Wario & Luigi: the untold story.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Heroines making out seems to be a popular theme in video game fan art. Here, Bayonetta implausibly locks lips with her arch nemesis. (We're willing to bet it's all explained in the accompanying fan fiction.)
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Link, re-imagined a giant tub o' lard. We feel compelled to point out this isn't an isolated fetish. There are literally hundreds of drawings to obese video game characters littering the Internet. Sob.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    No really.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    ...See?
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Ten bucks says the artist originally drew something else in Kasumi's hands.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Bondage-themed Pickachu art is incredibly popular on the Internet. That [[artnid:330071|freedom-robbing Web filter]] can't come fast enough...
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

If you think this image is bad, you should see the rest of the ten part sequence...
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Deep down, we all want to see Samus make it with a xenomorph. It's the only reason anyone plays Metroid games.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

In this pic, Princess Peach seems to be forcibly combing Fox McCloud's fur. Someone, somewhere, thought up this crossover and went to the effort to illustrate it.
  • In Pictures: Creepy-arse video game fan art

Have you ever wondered what a love child between Pickachu and E-Honda would look like? You're sick. Get help now.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Tifa and Aeris get it on, Yuletide style. We'd like to know how the Santa hats tie into it all? (We're thinking mistletoe. Or maybe too many eggnogs.) Then again, it could just be another layer of fetishistic perversion on the author's part.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Do not look into her eyes. She will suck your soul through your pupils.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

We like how the 'artist' covered up Pickachu's modesty with a swimsuit -- as if that somehow makes the picture any less perverse.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

This is probably a fair representation of what a naked Master Chief would look like. 'Spartan Labs' used to be a steroids supplier, you know...
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

We choose to believe that the chihuahua is giving Ditto a piggyback. This is our explanation. There can be no other explanation.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

THERE CAN BE NO OTHER EXPLANATION.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

According to the artist's website, this picture was especially comissioned. In other words, a market exists for video game transformation fetish art. The mind boggles.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Luigi and Mario head to the beach. Except Luigi's a girl. And Mario has deformed legs. We're pretty sure that the latter is just a poor attempt at perspective. ...Please don't let is be a fetish.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    Kirby meets [[artnid:339251|Chris Cunningham]]. Eeww.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Cactuar from Final Fantasy, proffering his boobies. And you thought you'd seen everything!
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

The worst thing about this image is Yoshi's nipples. ...Why does Yoshi have nipples?
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Er... how old is Mega Man supposed to be here? Also, WTF?
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Morrigan reimagined as a bearded truck driver. That's hot.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

I now have a gender-bending moustache fetish. Thanks Internet.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    What.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

We're not sure what we find more disturbing in this picture -- Dr. Robotnik's gimp mask or Walluigi's hot pants.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

This image was produced for the purpose of sexual gratification. There is no God.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

That's clearly a sock in your undies, Yoshi. You ain't fooling anyone.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Umm, yeah. We really didn't need to see that.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    Or that.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    Hnnngh.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Having a muscle fetish is perfectly normal. Having a Sonic muscle fetish... um, yeah. Best keep that under your hat.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Having a muscle fetish is perfectly normal. Having a Pokemon muscle fetish... um. Yeah. Best keep that under your hat.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Tifa and Aeris, at it again.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Just as we suspected all along.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

To be fair, every male gamer has imagined this scenario before. Except usually they're naked, right guys? ...Right?
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

The most disturbing thing about this picture is that we're actually intrigued to know the story behind it.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Terrifying as this picture is, we were more scared by the Cactuar with boobies (see above).
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

If you look closely, you can see a real Pokemon inside the latex Pokemon outfit ...screaming.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

We have nothing to add to this.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    Or this.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Tifa offers obligatory fan service. With a bandaid for added mystique.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

For some reason, there's more creepy fan art devoted to Krystal from Star Fox than any other video game character. You'd think it would be Lara Croft, but no.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

There's this guy on the internet who writes full-time about his imaginary adventures with Krystal. If you think this pic is horrifying, you should read the accompanying blog.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

The look on Krystal's face suggests she has just walked in on the blogger looking at porn. (Probably of her.)
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Sometimes, Bruce Willis pops over for a three-way. It's all chronicled on the website. (We really wish we were making this up.)
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Ayumi from X-Blades. The most disturbing thing about this image is that somebody produced fan art for such a crappy game.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    Use it! USE IT!
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Second only to Krystal fan art are depictions of Final Fantasy VII's Cloud in drag.

Zero Suit Samus is another fan art favourite. We can't imagine why.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Okami's Amaterasu, re-imagined as a dog lady slathered in ink. Only on the Internet.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    WTF?
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Someone sexualised Professor Layton. Thanks Internet.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Note the strategically placed mushrooms -- the uncensored version of this image is approximately one thousand times worse.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

One of the more curious fan art fetishes: Ms. Pac-Man suffering from abdominal pain.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Ms. Pac-Man meets Lolita. Because the world isn't messed up enough already.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

The cherry tattoo is a nice touch. ...Did we say nice? We meant horrifying.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    Oh dear.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

At least the artist didn't add genitals. Of course, that could be yet another fetish...
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Mario is clearly batting out of his league...
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

...Or possibly for the other team.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

As if Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2 wasn't freaky enough, somebody decided to draw him shooting love hearts at you. Brrrrr...
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    Bubblegum insanity!
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Call us sick, but we think this pic is kind of hot...
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    Ditto, this.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

There's so much wrong with this picture that we don't know where to begin. We think we need to lay down for a bit.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

We realise we've already shown this pic, but we felt you deserved a respite from the horror above.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    Seriously internet, WTF?
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

The out-of-focus trees in the foreground make this infinitively creepier – YOU are the voyeur.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

    ...Sweet mother of mercy.
  • In Pictures: The creepiest video game fan art

Dr. Wily in a bikni. Jesus wept.
