A lens that goes around corners? Yes that's right! Minolta's new digital camera, Dimage V, features a detachable lens with a 1m extension cable -- a feature that the company thinks will be popular with industrial users trying to get pics of hard to get to areas.
The lens, a 2.7x zoom (4.8mm to 13.0mm) is equal to a 35mm camera's 34mm-92mm lens. The lens also has macro capabilities -- it can "fill the frame with a credit card-sized object" Minolta says. And aside from being detachable, it can be rotated on the camera.
The Dimage V produces images 640 x 480 pixels, and stores them on a 4MB SSFDC memory card included with the camera. A 1.8in LCD monitor allows you to view photos you have taken, individually or in groups of nine.
The Dimage V is priced at $1199 RRP and falls into the lower end of Minolta's digital camera range.
