Aside from releasing a new beta of Flash this week, Macromedia has launched Flash Generator -- a server-based program that allows for data driven graphics on Web sites.
Kevin Lynch, vice president and general manager of Internet and Multimedia Authoring at Macromedia, demonstrated the new product in Sydney, illustrating possible applications of the product: dynamic weather maps, charts, banners, news feeds and events listings, which change according to the data source they are linked to. Graphics can be set to be automatically refreshed periodically.
Graphics created by the Flash Generator can be vector-based, GIF or animated GIF and interactive Flash files.
Flash Generator is scalable according to the number of processors in a server and is priced accordingly, starting at $4995RRP. Contact Firmware Design for more information on 1800 060 357 or visit http://www.flash.com/generator.
