Kyocera has announced its first colour laser printer, the FS-5800C, in a move to capture the corporate workgroup market.
Kyocera claims the printer has more paper feeds than competitive products, and remote status checking is available via the Kyocera Print Monitor. The stated print speed is 14 pages per minute for monochrome; 4.7 pages per minute for 3-colour documents; and 3.5 pages per minute for 4-colour documents.
The FS-5800C can handle 250 sheets of "standard paper", 50 transparencies or 100-sheet "multi-purpose". The printer comes with 40MB of memory (72MB maximum), and supports PCL, Postscript II, Prescribe IIc and barcodes. The printer also has a 2GB hard drive option for storing colour logos, customised fonts, etc.
Available in late July, the FS-5800C will sell for $8538 RRP, with optional network card for $565.
