Stac's new Replica Network Data Manager (NDM) range of products is designed to automatically backup and recover Windows 95 and Windows 98 data.
It achieves this by transmitting data to a NT-based "data vault", which removes the need for the daily input of an administrator. The system allows mobile users to backup via dial-up connections, and all users have 24-hour secure access to previous backups.
Replica NDM uses Stac's Net Pack compression technology for backups. Compression occurs at the client end, which helps to lower network traffic. The company claims less than one minute to backup a 500MB dekstop PC. There is also auto elimination of redundant files.
Beta versions of Replica NDM will be available in June via site licence agreements. Price per workstation starts at $814. For 1000 workstations or more, the price per PC is $163. Stac is on the Web at http://www.stac.com
