Compaq has launched a new range of Fast Ethernet Hubs aimed at the SME (small and medium enterprise) market.
The hubs give businesses faster network access "right out of the box" Compaq says. Used with Compaq desktops, the company claims the hubs will provide for faster access to business critical applications.
The product line allows for multi-user application access, shared resource pooling of hardware such as printers, and high-speed file sharing. Scalability is promoted within the range of hubs, offering a "solid growth path" for "meeting the office connectivity challenges of an evolving business".
The hubs are stackable to six high and can grow to meet the needs of up to 96 desktop and server connections. In addition, 192 users can be accommodated with two stacks of Class II repeaters connected together.
Pricing starts at $520 for an eight-port Fast Ethernet Hub, and up to $1399 for a 16-port Dual Speed Hub.
