Corel, Micrografx settle copyright suit

Corel has settled, for an undisclosed amount, a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by graphics software rival Micrografx earlier this year.

Graphics applications vendor Corel, was sued in January by Micrografx. Micrografx charged Corel with infringement of its intellectual property rights and filed for a temporary restraining order against Corel in a US District Court. The order called for Corel to take its graphics product suite, Print House Magic, off the market until certain disputed features in the product were removed. Micrografx claimed in a statement that Corel lifted features from Micrografx's PC card-creation software.

The Court denied Micrografx's request for a restraining order in April, according to a statement from Corel. That decision was on appeal when yesterday's settlement was reached, Corel said.

According to Corel, the settlement "has no material impact" on either Corel or Micrografx. Corel declined to give more information about the settlement.
